GARDASIL is the only human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine that helps protect against 4 types of HPV. Because HPV is the leading cause of many cancers, including cervical, vulvar and throat, preventing HPV is important for decreasing your cancer risk. The Centers for Disease Control recommends that preteen girls and boys receive an HPV vaccine by the age of twelve. The vaccine is also recommended for all girls and young women through the age of 26 if they have not received the vaccine when they were younger and for all boys and young men through the age of 21, if they have not yet received the vaccine.
